Sciton BBL Laser Treatments in London

Why choose Sciton BBL?

The MW Clinic London conducted extensive research on energy-based equipment and decided to focus on the Sciton BBL product. This non-invasive cosmetic treatment uses intense pulsed light (IPL) to rejuvenate the skin and reduce the appearance of various skin concerns. It is not a laser. The treatment is suitable for people of all skin types and can be used on different areas of the body, including the face, neck, chest, and hands.

How does Sciton BBL work?

The Sciton BBL treatment works by delivering pulses of light energy to the skin, which targets the pigments and structures responsible for various skin concerns. The light energy heats up the targeted area, stimulating collagen production and promoting skin renewal. This can help to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, sun damage, and uneven skin tone.

What is a Sciton BBL treatment?

BBL stands for Broad Band Light, the fastest light-based technology system that successfully treats a wide range of skin concerns.

What are the benefits of BBL?

BBL can successfully treat a wide and comprehensive range of dermatological and aesthetic concerns, including acne, rosacea, hyperpigmentation, vascular lesions as well as age-related changes such as fine lines, laxity and dull skin.

What does your face look like after BBL treatment?

Depending on the indication for your treatment, a typical response is some mild redness and minimal swelling immediately after the treatment. Typically, after a Skin Tyte treatment, a form of non-surgical facelifting there is no further downtime. However, when treating large areas of hyperpigmentation, there will be areas of micro-crusting for a few days following the treatment.

Does BBL really work?

BBL is a refinement of IPL (intense pulsed light) technology which has been around for more than 20 years. Light treatment has a robust and proven track record with a large literature base supporting its use in a number of dermatological and aesthetic indications. In addition to the large evidence base supporting the use of a BBL there are numerous and extremely compelling clinical photographs.

What are the effects of BBL laser?

First of all BBL is not technically a laser, as it is made up of several different wavelengths of light. The advantage of several different wavelengths is that several different concerns can be targeted simultaneously in the skin. For example, with BBL HERO treatments, we can target fine lines, pigmentation, and small facial vascular anomalies simultaneously. The term ‘photofacial’ encompasses this wide-reaching and highly effective light technology on the skin.

What are the results after BBL treatment?

Depending on the indication for your BBL treatment, you would typically need between three and four treatments. However you should see improvement even after the first treatment. For example, with a photofacial you will notice a reduction in red spots and brown or age spots, even after your first treatment.

What is the difference between a BBL and laser?

Laser is actually an acronym for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. The most significant difference between laser and BBL is that laser is light of a single wavelength that has been amplified and typically produces a very narrow beam of radiation. It can then only target one specific depth within the skin, and therefore one specific concern. BBL broadband light, as the name suggests, is made up of several wavelengths of light, and is therefore absorbs many different coloured targets in the skin and can therefore target many different concerns simultaneously.

How many BBL Forever Clear treatments are needed?

Depending on the severity and distribution of your acne, even a single Forever Clear treatment will make a difference. However, typically a course would be of 8 to 10 sessions, spaced 1 to 2 weeks apart.

How long do BBL treatment results last?

Again, depending on which treatment you’ve had and the indication for it, the results will last for several months. We would normally suggest 1 to 2 maintenance treatments yearly in order to gain the best results

What happens two months after BBL?

Certain BBL treatments such as the Forever Young protocol and SkinTyte procedures typically take 6 to 8 weeks in order to start seeing meaningful results. This is because water is targeted in the dermis. A process of selective thermolysis occurs during the treatment and this results in the new formation of collagen and elastin by your own body. This process typically takes between 6 to 12 weeks.

What are the negative results of a BBL?

BBL is a very powerful technology, and it is essential that it is delivered by a highly competent and knowledgeable practitioner. Without expert knowledge of skin types, anatomy, and dermatological or aesthetic conditions that are being treated, BBL can cause complications in the skin, including blistering, hypopigmentation, hyperpigmentation, and even scarring.

Does skin peel after BBL?

Depending on the condition and the severity of it, there is usually some microcrusting and sloughing of surface skin and pigment a few days after treatment. After SkinTyte treatment, there is no peeling of skin as all the treatment is delivered into deep dermis to stimulate new collagen production.

What happens to your skin after BBL treatment?

Depending on the indication for the treatment, the effects on the skin are different. If BBL has been used to treat hyperpigmentation, the brown in your skin will have absorbed the red wavelength of light. This will be thermolysed and rise to the surface of the skin, forming microcrusts one day after treatment, and then slough off. The same is true of vascular lesions such as small facial vessels or generalised redness. With longer wavelengths of light, which are absorbed into the deeper dermis by water, the skin will appear a little red and swollen after the treatment. However there will be no other effects until typically 6 to 12 weeks after treatment when the new collagen production that was stimulated by the light starts creating a beautiful lifting effect in your skin.

Is BBL good for your skin?

In specific medical conditions, such as acne, the blue light from the BBL targets the surface bacteria, which contribute to driving the inflammatory component of the condition. This is a huge advantage of the treatment. In addition to this, by using the red light as part of the acne protocol, the deeper layers of the skin, and specifically, the meibomian and sebaceous glands, that are involved in the acne inflammatory process can be targeted and treated without any of the toxic and potentially dangerous side-effects of the standard oral medications that have been used for many years in the treatment of acne.
In ageing skin BBL stimulates the new production of collagen and elastin in the dermis. This has a lifting and strengthening effect and actually makes your skin more healthy.

Can BBL look natural?

One of the great advantages of BBL is that it will not change the way you look it will only enhance, restore and rejuvenate your skin.

Does BBL leave scars?

In the correct hands by an experienced and trained practitioner, BBL will never leave scars in your skin. In fact, interestingly, it can be used to manage and improve the appearance of post-surgical scars or traumatic scars to great effect.

Does BBL leave marks?

In the correct hands of an experienced and trained practitioner, BBL will not leave marks on your skin. Through its absorption by various targets in the skin, it may leave some visible signs with a short downtime following the procedure. This is only a temporary change or effect.

Are results from BBL permanent?

BBL will achieve great results in the clearing of pigment or redness in the skin. However, whether these results are maintained in the long-term depends on both genetic and lifestyle factors . Any recurrence of these issues can be addressed with further maintenance BBL treatments. Similarly with Forever Young or SkinTyte it is advised to top up or have maintenance treatment once to twice a year.

What should I avoid before a BBL laser?

It is essential to avoid sun exposure or tanning products for four weeks both before and after any BBL treatment. Certain medications can make you more sensitive to light, and BBL treatment would not be safe for clients taking these medications.

Which is better IPL or BBL?

BBL, as the name suggests, can treat a broader range of skin conditions as it contains multiple light wavelengths. Conversely IPL uses a single focus beam of light, and is therefore suited better to precisely treating a very targeted area.

Is BBL safe or not?

BBL is a very powerful and effective technology in the correct hands with a knowledgeable and competent practitioner.
