RSM establishes new Section for Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery
By Dr. Meg Minasian, Founder of The MW Clinic London
I was delighted to hear last month that the Royal Society of Medicine (RSM) will be opening a new Section on Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery in October this year.
The RSM plays a critical role in advancing medical knowledge and practice across a wide range of disciplines. Founded in 1805, the RSM serves as a forum for medical professionals to share ideas, attend educational events, and stay up to date with the latest developments in healthcare. The society facilitates a vast array of educational events, from lectures to conferences, offering medical professionals a platform to learn and collaborate.
As a member of the Royal Society of Medicine, I am proud to align with an institution that not only embodies excellence in healthcare but also embraces the evolving areas of medicine such as aesthetics. This helps ensure that our clinic remains informed on the latest best practices, technologies, research and treatments in the aesthetic field, providing our patients with safe and effective care.
The creation of this new Section clearly reflects the increasing importance of this area and the attention it is being given by medical professionals. While the introducton of new aesthetics regulation has been stalled in recent years, despite there being legislation that enables it, this move will facilitate greater focus and education for a growing area of modern medicine.
